Am looking for an Ezra Holmes born about 1791. He lived most of his life in Danube (Herkimer County), New York. In fact, it says he lived there 73 years. Actually the town of Newville is also mentioned, which I believe is a small settlement near Danube. He was married to a Sally Wilcox and possibly to an Elizabeth Emily who died at the age of 24, in 1841. His children were: Alvah (possibly) Sarah A. (also possibly Lester's wife) Lester Oscar Nancy M. An infant son is also shown to have died at Newville on June 27, 1827. The infant son of Ezra Holmes, merchant. Alvah is shown to have lived next door in the 1850 census, and married to Permelia Pickert of Manheim. His children were: Viola Zelia (Azelia) Wilkard (perhaps Willard) Ezra died near Fulton (Gilbert's Mills), Oswego County, NY on June 21, 1878 at 87 years. It also states that he was a Deacon. Am actually trying to trace back another generation from Ezra, but any information would be greatly appreciated. My mother (who is 92) is also in possession of two spoons with Azelia Holmes engraved on the handle. She says that this cousin Zelia or Azelia (Alvah's daughter) sent them to her, saying that they were her grandmother's or great-grandmother's. So. . . there may also be another Azelia.
