Is Throckmorton only related to the Holmes in a later generation in America? I am looking for any connections between the Conklins and the Holmes regarding the glasshouse in Salem and possible connections between them in England. I know that the Conklins and Southwick all came from Kingswinford/Old Swinford. I am interested in the possibility that the Throckmortons might have had something to do with a Conklin family member removing to the Throggs Neck area and been one of those who fled to Flushing after the Indian raid. Does anyone have a citation that lists the 35 who are said to have first settled Throggs Neck? Does anyone know where majority of people were buried (if close enough to land) or where records might be found of people who died while on the voyage to America? I hear that my John A. Holmes was born aboard ship.. and another story tells of Thomas' wife dying and Thomas remarrys shortly after arriving.. Could she have died giving birth to john aboard ship? Does anyone know how I would find out?? I know a few ship records give that info.. but are there any other records that I haven't thought of that might give the info also? Thanks Carolyn

DOB 11/9/1893, DOD 6/1981 in Bradenton, Florida. Then there was a Hazel Holmes DOB 11/2/1903, DOD 3/27/1989 in St. Louis, Missouri. These dates do somewhat correspond with the dates you have provided for the information on Barbara. You can request their personal records from Social Security. Also, you may wish to check out the probate records for both individuals to see if they had an estate... this would have included the names of the heirs. Good Luck in your search.

Hi Carolyn, I'm not sure if our Holmes family was connected to the Hatfields & McCoys for sure, but as a child my grandfather would tell us stories and say that we were related to them. My grandfathers family was from Washington Co., PA (near the panhandle of W. Va.). My grandfathers parents were John Henry Smith b. 1862 in Buffalo, NY, and his mother was Lydia Jane HOLMES, born 8-1-1865 (her death certificate says in Lock Haven, PA., but I have no verification that was where she was born).
