Anyone have access to a copy? Apparently the Family History Library doesn't have it -- at least I saw the 1908 version but not this one in their catalog. I do know of at least one (alleged) error in the original; just yesterday I copied an article, "Nathaniel Holmes of Canterbury, Connecticut and Dutchess County, New York" from the Mayflower Quarterly, August 1982, according to which the Nathaniel Holmes who married Desire Spicer and the Nathaniel who married Mary Morris and Mary Jordan were two different men, not the same man as the 1908 book has it. - Rich Holmes Morris: FLYING BARK (Newport News) Syracuse, NY / Genealogy: BELDEN (NY), COLLINS (NY,RI), CURRIER (NY,NH), Newport News, VA HANSEN (NY), HAYES (NY,CT), HOLMES (NY,CT), [email protected] JENSEN (NY), YORK (NY,CT)

Wed Keziah Cox in GA, to Butler County, AL by 1812, ultimately settling in Rankin County, MS in the 1840's, where he died in 1866. May have had a brother named Gabriel. 3. The Holmes List is about genealogy, so please restrict your posts to subjects that might help everyone further their search for ancestors. If you remember your welcome message, you'll recall that there are several things that are simply not done on a list. One is post non-relevant material. Another is to add attachments to messages. Having been the recipient of an enormour message once (the guy inadvertantly attached a school report) that totally bollixed up my mailbox, I am adamantly opposed to ANY sort of attachment on Holmes List messages. So be warned. The first time you do it, I'll chide you gently. The second time, you might want to open your mailbox carefully, for fear of what's inside. If there's something you want to send that you feel is too large for regular posting (and I'd count that as anything bigger than 2-3 typewritten pages), ask who wants it, then send it to them individually. But NO gedcoms, or other long family lists, please, and nothing else that might corrupt people's mailboxes because of size. Getting off my soapbox, may I wish you all a nice summer, and hope that if you travel to seek ancestors, you'll be successful. Jude (listowner) **************** Judith B. 2. Peter Morris
    3. This sort of "virus notice" goes around the internet about every 6 months. No, there's nothing to it. Even microsoft systems, with their lousy security, can't catch viruses via email. A virus is a program: it is executed by the computer. An email message, on the other hand, is nothing but a text file. It is read by a program (whatever mailer you use). --------------------------------------------------------- Only Open Source software was used in the preparation and sending of this message.
