FYI Interestingly, I have a Maragret Page, Born about 1700-1710, Marrying a Samuel Robbins. They had a daughter Mary Robbins, (1729-1795) who married Samuel Allen (1723-1777) in Chesterfield on 6 Feb. 1749. I am trying to go back from Samuel Robbins & Margaret Page. I am new to the list and have not seen previous postings; so I do not know if HOLMES families in North Carolina have been recently discussed or not. I recently learned that I descend from Levi HARROLD and Rachel REYNOLDS who were married in Stokes Co., NC on 2 May 1815. They probably travelled in the same year to Shelby County, KY, along with Rachel's parents -- Richard REYNOLDS and Anna HOLMES. Does anyone know *where* in NC Anna Holmes married Richard REYNOLDS? A newcomer to this list, I am interested in any information regarding Edward HOLMES, son of John Holmes, born around 1820, and died before 1870. He married Mary O'Gorman in Kilmurry, Church of Ireland, Parish Church, 8 Nov 1849. He was the father of at least two children, Michael J (1851-1879) and Catherine (1854-1939) born in County Limerick. I have no record of Edward's birth or death, but suspect he was native of Limerick, Tipperary or Cork, where his son, Michael, married Mary O'Shea in 1871 and grandson, John, was born that same year. His widow, Mary O'Gorman, emigrated to the US in 1866. She married John Holland and they ran a laundry in Chicago, IL. Any information relating to this family would be very much appreciated. I recently passed through Marshall, TX and checked out the historic Greenwood Cemetery there. Found a MATTIE HOLMES DAVIDIGE "Wife of Rezin Davidige 1957-1943." The next 2 graves were Rezin Davidige "Born in Princeton, KY, Dec 21, 1846, Died near Marshall, TX Dec 23, 1904." And "Anna wife of R. Davidige, Born in Williston, S.C., April 29, 1847, Died in Marshall, TX Mar. 13, 1892." At this time in history, Marshall was the third largest town in Texas. Hope this helps someone! Irene

John appears to be on the 1840 census for Edgefield with 1 son 5-10, 2 sons under 5, and one daughter under 5. I have not been able to find him in 1850 although I do know he was in the Village of Edgefield in 1849 because he was involved in a couple of land transactions. Dear Holmes searchers, About a month ago I learned that I am a descendant of Levi Harrold and Rachel Reynolds who were married on 2 May 1815 in Stokes County, NC and who went to Kentucky the same year. In Shelby County, KY they lived right next door to Richard Reynolds and his wife "Nancy". This part of Shelby County, KY became Spencer Co., KY in 1824, and on the 1840 census for Spencer County, Rachel Harrold (widowed) is still living next door to Nancy Reynolds (widowed). I know that during the time frame that "Nancy" is a common nickname for "Ann", and the Ancestral File at the Mormons' Family History Center contains the information that Richard Reynolds married Ann HOLMES. Is anyone familiar with this family? Did an Ann Holmes marry a Richard Reynolds in North Carolina about 1790? Has anyone found a marriage record or a family Bible to corroberate this information? Does anyone know to what family this Ann Holmes belongs? Since I am just starting to explore HOLMES connections, I want to start out on the right foot. I'll gratefully receive any help offered!
