    3. Judith, I just found a site that covers Alabama (and individual counties) that is great. I found a few listings for "HOOMES". I'm tellin' y'all, I'm so new at this, I had no idea there would be any variations in spelling!! As soon as I can figure out just where I was, and how I got there (I forgot to write it down), I'll post it to this list. It was a very informative and very easy site to use. (I'm probably not tellin' y'all nothin new either!!!) I will get back into it when I can spend a little more time. Pam

    3. Judith, While looking at some of the USGENWEB ARCHIVE files, there are 2 in particular that need checking. #1--(File: hoomesfamcem.txt) HOOMESVILLE FAMILY CEMETARY, Brewton, (Escambia County), Alabama #2--(File: hoomescoccem.txt) HOOMESVILLE CHURCH CEMETARY, Hoomesville, Alabama, Rout 1, Brewton, Alabama Is this a typographical error? I have tried several different methods to get a listing, address, name, just anything to make a contact with these people. There seems to be some errors in their listings as well. If you have any advise as how to get in touch with these people, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Pamela Holmes Serda

    2. Thought some would find these amusing...maybe even helpfull, if they're in your line.. Plymouth, Mass. Bathsheba James, wife of Capt. William Holmes 3rd Mariner and daughter to Capt. Joseph Doten, Ditto. She was kill'd instantaneously in a Thunder storm by the Electrich fluid of lightning on the 6th day of July 1830, aged 36 years and 26 days. She was an affectionate Wife, a dutiful Daughter, a happy mother, a kind and sincere friend. Alas sweet Blossom short was the period that enlivening virtues contributed to the happiness of those connections, But O how long have they to mourn the loss of so much worth and excellence. Patience Holmes 1845, age 24, Plymouth Mass. (-and others in New Hampshire and Vermont) Shed not for her the bitter tear Nor give the heart to vain regret 'Tis but a casket that lies here The gem that filled it sparkles yet.
