My earliest Holmes is William Holmes b. abt. 1803 in England. The next I see of him is in St. Joseph Co., MI in 1845. He married Mrs. Sarah J. Young in Cass Co., MI in 1849. They are both listed in the St. Joseph Co., MI 1850 census.

(The last 2 digits after the county, are the year of the census, (such as RB-80, would be Robertson County, 1880 census) ending June first of the census year.
