Just the weekly test of the list, Gary
Hi! I am new to this group. I think there's only one Holloway in my line: John T. McManus, b. abt 1790, married ___?____ Holloway in 1838 in Edgefield Dist, SC near what is now Saluda, SC. She was his second wife. He died between 1841/1850. Also, there's no record a female McManus in the Edgefield Dist on the 1850 census, so she must have died before 1850. I have no record of John's first wife or where they are buried. I think there may have been a family grave yard on the property. I do have records of all John's children and where they are buried. Hopefully, there's someone subscribed to this list with Edgefield Dist Holloways who may be able to shed some light for me! Joye

My line came from Michigan and Massachusetts. James Alexander Holloway was in Mi. when my father was born there. Now whether that was his roots or not I don't know because my father ended up in Mass. where he was issued his SS card. Benjamin John Holloway was supposed to have been born in Detroit on Jan. 1,1903. So far no one has heard of either one of them. His mother was Mary Smith. That is all the info I have on them E-mail to ElizMock@aol.com

I'm trying to identify the parents of my g-grandmother, Catherine Cobb (called Katie). On December 21, 1871, Catherine Cobb married Samuel Taylor Holloway (son of Templeton M. Holloway and his wife Caroline) in Etowah Co., AL. Samuel Taylor and Catherine moved from Alabama to Natchitoches, LA, where their first child, Samuel Taylor Holloway Jr., was born March 13, 1876. Samuel Taylor (Sr.) died on October 3, 1878. Thirteen days later their second child, Clara E. Holloway (my grandmother) was born in Natchitoches on Oct 19, 1878. A mixture of family tradition and documented facts describes how Catherine, after the death of her husband, took the two children back to the area of Burnt Corn, Alabama, and stayed in the home of her father-in-law, Templeton M. Holloway. The following spring, on April 9, 1879, Catherine died. It's possible that she may have been buried on what is now the old Garrett place near Awin, AL. The children were raised by their grandparents until the death of Templeton on March 20, 1883. James Abraham Holloway, a brother of Samuel Taylor Sr., eventually took the children into his home until they were old enough to be on their own. A few of Templeton's descendants include: 1 - Templeton Marion Holloway I d. 20 Mar 1883 sp- Eliza Grimes m. 5 Dec 1842 d. 15 Jul 1855 2 - Almira A. Hello, I am currently doing research on my husbands family-The Holloways, so far I have nothing if anyone can please give me any info- I would sure be grateful. Thank you.
Dear Researchers, I am tying to find the parents of William Lee Holloway, born 1831 in MS, probably in Franklin Co. He married Sarah Jane Herring 16 May 1850 and raised a large family there. He and his family went to Ashley Co. Ark and were on the 1870 census. At the same time they were buying and selling real estate in Franklin Co. I am tying to prove that his father was George Holloway. George, his wife, Sarah, and minor children along with his brother, James L, went to Ark in the mid 1840¹s and bought property. George died in DeBastrop, Ark in 1845. This notice was in the MS papers. IGeorge¹s minor children were: Burlin V, George W, James M, Porter M L. James L Holloway became their guardian. George married Jane Porter 23 May 1833, but his daughter, Jane, was born 6 Feb 1833. This information found in FRANKLIN CO. MS CEMETERIES by Mogan. Jane married John W Herring 12 Nov 1849. Jane and John Herring and William Lee and Sarah Holloway sold Ark land to James L Holloway in 1854. I have a land abstract with this information. I have not been able to locate a ARK will for George. My assumption is that William Lee and Jane were from an earlier marriage for George, possibly his first wife dying soon after Jane¹s birth. Realizing that I may really be reaching, does anyone have any information or suggestions concerning this search? Thank you for any help. Gail
