Hi David, Was working on the HOLLOWAY file and found a Biography in the Morgan & Scott Cos. IL History of a GEORGE HOLLOWAY whose parents were JOHN HOLLOWAY and MILLEY BURCH, so the biography says. I found a marriage on CD for a JOHN HOLLOWAY and MILLEY BUNCH in Mercer CO KY. I looked at the 1830 Morgan CO IL census and found a listing for a JOHN HOLLIWAY: 1 male 15/20 1 female 50/60 1 male 20/30 1 male 60/70 Do you know anything about this JOHN HOLLOWAY? The Biography was on his son GEORGE HOLLOWAY who resided in Scott Co IL at the time. The above reading was probably in what is now Scott Co IL, as Scott was formed from Morgan in 1839. The biograhy refers to three sons and six daughters. It does not give a death date for JOHN and MILLEY, just says they both died at age 80. I do not have the 1840 Scott Co IL Census to see if their death occurred aft the census. They were obviusly in KY before VA. Thought it was interesting in that CHARLES FRANKLIN HOLLOWAY s/o JAMES was in Morgan CO IL, too, 1830 Census. Any possible connection? Mary Ann

My husband Greg is a descendant of Hugh Pike and Sarah Brown. His line is: Hugh Pike m. Sarah Brown Hugh Pike m. Hannah Emerson James Pike m. Anne George James Pike Jr. m. Alice George Rufus Pike m. Elisa Nelson James Single Pike m. Harriet Weed James William Pike m. Ruth Marden Gene Marden Pike m. Marian Curtis Greg Pike m. Sharon Sabel Somewhere in my piles of notes, I have info on Hugh Pike. I believe that he is listed as a servant of John Rolfe, probably signifying that Rolfe paid for his passage to Mass. The only unproven link in this linage is the parents of Rufus Pike. If my dates are correct, Alice George Pike would have been 56 years old when Rufus was born. In one account, he said that his mother was named Alice but he had a sister named Alice (who could have been his mother at 31, no record of any marriage). At any rate, he grew up in the household of James and Alice and later his brother Major Samuel Pike. I have a very interesting account of Rufus' family journey by wagon to Wisconsin and Minnesota in 1851. It was written by Orin Pike, son of Rufus, when he was 81 years old, about 1926. I'll be happy to send you copies. Looking forward to hearing from you. Sharon
I have a Robert HOLLOWAY, (1774-1833), son of Jean [John] HOLLOWAY & Isabella [Elizabeth WHITE], who married Rebecca WELLS on November 22, 1796. They had 13 known children, and lived in Natchez Territory [Adams County, MS. John & Elizabeth were originally from Virginia. Robert had siblings Elizabeth [who m. Cady Raby]; George; William; John; Mary; James; and a child to be born abt. Dec 1781. [Elizabeth WHITE HOLLOWAY's husband John was killed by Indians October 24, 1781, and she declared she was 7 months pregnant at the time.] The widow Elizabeth WHITE HOLLOWAY then m. 2. John Stille, or Stillee, etc., and he mentioned in his will a 'son' Reuben Stille. I have been trying to prove that the child was actually my Reuben Holloway of Amite County, MS. Does this sound like your family? I have more to share... Donna Gist Moore -- mailto:jndmoore@EIS1.eis.com.eg

Gary- my Holloway line is in Orange County, N. C. Lucy Holloway married William Whitaker. They were probably b. in early 1800's. My cousin, Robert Newsome in Durham, N. C. has worked this line and has much more than I do. He should be online (hopefully) within the month. He has told me that we either have 2 Holloway or two Hollowell lines- can't remember. Sorry for this pittance!!! but Robert will clear up later. Thanks, Bebe

Can anyone help me with the following: Where would the given name Condy (Conby, Cordy, Corby) have originated and what might be the correct spelling? I got the name (My gfather's) from my uncle's SS-5. The third and fourth letters are not what you'd call sterling examples of penmanship. He married Martha Jane Kennedy and they had at least 2 boys and 4 girls, all apparently in the general area of Atlanta GA. I just can't seem to get past Condy or Martha. No dates on them other that the fact that the two boys were born in 1903 and 1906. Thanks Hank
