    1. Holloways in NJ to OH to IN, Part 1
    2. Descendants of John HOLLOWAY, IMMIGRANT Part of the problem with the conflicting dates could have been a result of confusing the Quaker dating and the regular calendar dating. Generation No. 1 1. JOHN3 HOLLOWAY, IMMIGRANT (THOMAS2, HENRY1) was born 03 Aug 1686 in Frome (Froom), Somersetshire, England (Source: Stephen Lawson Holloway website 1997. He has Aug 3. I had Aug 31.John Holloway's birthdata is based on his being the son of Thomas and Gartery Holloway.), and died 1716-1717 in Burlington Co. NJ. 1 Jan 1716 (Source: Stephen Lawson Holloway website 1997.John Holloway's will, dated 12 Dec 1716, was proved 20 Apr 1717.Website has date 1 Jan 1716.). He married MARY PHARO, IMMIGRANT 1705-1707 in Burlington Co. NJ. (Source: Stephen Lawson Holloway website 1997), daughter of JAMES PHARO and ANNE MURFIN. Notes for JOHN HOLLOWAY, IMMIGRANT: RALPH HOLLOWAY rlh2@columbia.edu writes: "The best source for all Holloway History on this line is Olin Holloway's 1927 book, Holloway Genealogies, published privately in Knightstown, Indiana. Many good libraries have the book. There is good solid info on the Pharos, but John Holloway's father remains to be proven. I believe it was Thomas Holloway, Frome, Somersetshire and his wife Gartery. I saw the original birth records in London at the Society of Friends. No proof that this John is the same, but I think it is the most probable." Stephen M. Lawson Website 1996: The information on the Holloway family has been compiled in 1991 by Doris (Holloway) Sleath in Descendants of John and Mary (Pharo) Holloway from New Jersey to California 1704-1991. Refer also to Genealogy of the Holloway Families by Olin E. Holloway (1927). Website: John sailed for America about 1704. His will dated 12/12/1716 and proved 5/20/1717 at Chesterfield, Burlington Co. NJ. was signed by his mark, and named as his executors his wife Mary and her brother James. He married RUTH WOOD 10 Sep 1731 in Springfield, Burlington Co. NJ. or Nov 11 1731. (Source: HOLLOWAY - Stephen Lawson Holloway Website, Website shows 10 Sep 1731 as the wedding date. Previous information had 10 Nov 1731.), daughter of ASA WOOD. Does anyone have information about Ruth Wood's ancestors? Notes for GEORGE HOLLOWAY: Items from the Minutes of Burlington Monthly Meeting pg. 117 7th da, 6th mo, 1749 George Holloway and wife Ruth received by certificate from Bethlehem Monthly Meeting. pg. 134 5th da, 8th mo 1765 George Holloway and wife received by certificate from Chesterfield Monthly Meeting pg. 143 3rd da, 1st mo, 1774. George Holloway and wife Ruth granted a certificate to Hopewell Monthly Meeting, Virginia. above received from Judy Cronk Skier1@ix.netcom.com through NJ homepage. pg. 115 of H. Stanley Craig's index shows Holloway, George, Hunterdon Co - Ruth Wood, Nov 10, 1731. from Records of Chesterfield Friends' Meeting 1682-1845. George Holloway was cared for by his uncle, James Pharo, after his father died in the winter of 1716-1717. George Holloway was about 6 or 7 years of age when his father died. The will of James Pharo, Jr. was dated 17 Nov 1757 and proved 28 Mar 1760. The inventory of his estate was dated 25 Mar 1760. The will provides the names of three of his HOLLOWAY nephews (called "cousins"), his niece Avis (HOLLOWAY) SCHOLY, and 10 grand nephews and nieces. Hames cared for nephew George HOLLOWAY after the death of George's father. James married Rebecca, named executrix of his estate. George and Ruth Wood were married on September 10, 1731 at Springfield, NJ. She is now said to be the daughter of Asa Wood, and not Isaac Wood and Sarah French, as I had been told. (1997) The marriage was recorded at the Chesterfield Monthly Meeting of Friends, with witnesses including John and James Holloway, (brothers of George) and James Pharo, (uncle and foster father of George). George and Ruth lived at Bethlehem, Hunterdon Co. NJ. in Feb 1745, and moved their Friends membership from Burlington Co. NJ. to the Hopewell Monthly Meeting, Frederick Co. VA. on 3 Jan 1774. More About GEORGE HOLLOWAY: ARRIVAL - 2: 03 Jan 1774, moved from Burlington Co. NJ. to Frederick Co. VA. Hopewell MM. (Source: Stephen Lawson - Holloway website 1997. ) Notes for RUTH WOOD: Ralph Holloway ( rlh2@columbia.edu) writes: "The birth information is correct, but there is no proof regarding anything of her parents. It's a major hiatus in the genealogy. There isn't a single published account I know of that provides the parents of Ruth Wood. The French and Isaac Wood connection to Ruth is pure speculation. There are about three or four Woods in the area at the time, including Isaac, William, and a John, I think. Ruth cannot be connected to any of them." 8-19-96. Most of you agreed that Abigail last name was WRIGHT. Unfortunately for me, My Grandmother Huff says that it is BUFFTON! That is why I use the ??? for Abigail last name. But it sure "looks" like it should be WRIGHT. I would love to get a look at the book that waas written in the 1930's on the Holloway family!! Does anybody prechance have access to a copy?? WHat I really need it a source documentation linking my Robert to ASA and Abigail Wright Holloway. So that I can rule out what my grandmother gave me. Otherwise the information "seems" to match. The gedcom that I was giving the link to, even had ALL 9 children listed!! Oh by the way My Hollways ended up in Henry Co. IN. I am currently overseas and it is late, so I will print out , look at and respond accordly tommorrow. Thank you all again, Missy
