Hello everyone! I am new to the list & desperately seeking my ancesters. I am searching the following people: Sam Holloway b. abt 1837 His parents were Levi & Gensie Holloway. Pink Blue,Susanna Annie Elizabeth b.15 Oct 1874 in Douglasville, Ga m. William George or James Holloway, d. 26 Sept 1941. Annie is my g-g-grandmother. I am told William was her cousin. Forest Edger Lee ( my great grandparents), James Samuel, Lilly, Lewis Morris, Alice, James Oscar.A lot of these Holloways were in Bibb Co, Macon, Ga. OOPS! Sorry about the 1st erroneous subject post! I'm looking for info on Jean/John (maybe Leon) Holloway, b. Mar. 1861. He married Angelina Locassin, b. 15 Jan 1871 in Breaux Bridge LA, on 14 May 1889 in Breaux Bridge. His succession is dated 07 Jan 1907 in Opelousas Ct. House (#6212), St. Martin parish, LA. Father Hebert's shows 6 children. I think they resided in the Port Barre, Krotz Springs, Opelousas area. However, I think (tho I'm not sure) that Jean/John/Leon might have been from the New Orleans area. Any Lousiana Holloways out there that I might make connection with? Thanks for any help! Howdy all. Fred again here with another unusual genealogy site for the brave and daring. I don't know where I came up with this one. I had it in my bookmarks. It's been lying there to torment me, I'm sure. this databse is very large. It is according to the person who posted it, over fifteen megabites when compressed. I can't imagine it uncompressed. There is a readme file in the directory so you can click on it. I can't get the counties file to come up or some of the other ones. The directories themselves seem to work and the index seems to have reference to the names. It's all rather cryptic but you should be, with a little patience, able to navigate to the family you are looking for in here To quote the author. The history department at the University of Minnesota has compiled a 1% sampling of the 1880 Federal census. The original file (73 megabytes) is a complete accounting of the census enumerations of more than a half million individuals. This data includes information geared to socialogists and historians and most of it is expressed in 2 to 4 digit numerical codes requiring separate lookup tables. In order to accomodate such large data and more than 107,000 files, I have had to create a rather extensive directory structure in the form of: /state.or.territory/county.code/enumeration.district/filename Here is an an entry from the index: HALMAN CHARLES WI/1110/0256/106488 Charles HALMAN is found in the State of Wisconsin, county code 1110, which happens to be Sauk County, enumeration district 0256. The file name is 106488. The paths are relative to /pub/1880/. To download the file in which Charles Halman appears, issue this FTP command: get /pub/1880/WI/1110/0256/106488 Each file lists every person in the household in the same order as they appeared in the census. The two-letter postal codes for the states are used as directory names. These are the codes I devised for the directory names representing territories: AT - Alaska Terr. NT - New Mexico Terr. DT - Dakota Terr. UR - Utah Terr. IT - Idaho Terr. WT - Washington Terr. MR - Montana Terr. WR - Wyoming Terr. Good luck. Hope some of you can find some relatives in this thing. ftp://ftp.genealogy.org/pub/1880/ http://www.alaska.net/~fsalter Home Page of Fred and Mary Salter in Eagle River, AK mailto:fsalter@alaska.net http://www.alaska.net/~fsalter/html/surnames.html SURNAME Listing now 14,531 names. I noticed on the generform that you are searching the Holloway family. These are 2 collateral lines of mind. Henry Young who left a will in l83l Warren Co.,Tennessee mentions 2 daughters who married into the Holloway family. One was Polly (Young) and Naomi (Young). They both married Holloways probably in Warren Co.,Tenn area between l8l8 and l830. I descend from another sister, Elizabeth (Young) who married William F. Mears. Would you know anyone who descends from these 2 Holloway families? Thank you very much for any help which you can provide. Hi everyone----To understand the life of my grandfather of which there is little information, those with whom he associated must be closely studied, looking for information on his life--Charles Holloway was master of the Star of India, 1868-1874, the period of my grandfathers service on this vessel. Charles Holloway, born London, to William Holloway, and Ellen Soames[Somes]. She of the Shipping family of Soames, who later were politicians, and married into the family of Winston Churchill Star of India was owned by The Merchant Shipping Co of London, shareholders being the Soames, including Mrs Ellen Holloway, who in reality probably bought the vessel for her son [in c1863] who had recently gained his masters certificate. Request---Any information on Charles Holloway and his family, which will assist in building a complete profile of this person.{and indirectly my grandfather} Charles Holloway left a widow--Jane Elizabeth -----. What was her maiden name? Finally -what branch of the Holloways did Charles stem from? Any information greatfully accepted----Bob.
Hi! My information on Bremillion (a direct ancestor in my line) is that his father was Thomas HOLLOWAY bc 1747 who was married 3 times and had 19 children. He was a large property owner in Orange and Wake counties, NC. This information came from the History of Rhea County, TN compiled by Bettye J. Broyles 1991. Thomas (Bremillion's father) was a store keeper/property owner in Orange Co, NC. My sister and I joined the Daughters of the American Revolution through him because he aided with supples during the Revolution. His father was also Bremillion HOLLOWAY who m. Mrs. Joanna Caine 5 Ot 1782 in Orange Co. and also Lydia Bryant c1780-1870. Thomas' children from his 1st and 2nd marriages are Thomas Jr, Fanny, James H., Bremillion, Samuel, Polly/Mary, Lucy, David, William, Elizabeth, Nancy Hannah, Ann/Joanna, Agatha/Agness. Issue from 3rd marriage (Lydia BRYANT) were John (b Orange co NC), Williamson Bryant, Sarah, Lydia Caroline, and Milly. This information came from his will and from a book, Grandfather was always a Very old man. Hope this helps and hope this John is the same one.
