    3. >Did all of your Holloways live in Nebraska? > >Thanks, > >Gina Long answer to a short question. No, not all lived in Nebraska, in fact, most probably didn't but read on. John H. was born in Circleville, Ohio and Delphia was born in McQuan, Illinois Their first child Charles was born in Illinois, his death at age 24 was probably in Iowa or Kansas. The next four children were born in Iowa: Maude, Nancy, Asa, & Sarah. The next two were born in Nebraska: Cora & John The next two were born in Iowa: William (Artie) & Oscar The next one, Hazel, was born in Kansas. The last one, Floyd, was born in Nebraska. Nancy died at age 11 and Maude died at age 13 according to the family bible record. All surviving children moved away during the depression except Asa and Cora. Cora married Levi Alley and lived in Nebraska all her life. From my recollection, Artie, Oscar, Hazel and Floyd moved to the west coast; Artie in California and Oscar, Hazel and Floyd moved to Oregon. Anyone younger than Artie is a mystery to me or any of the family still living; most likely due to the distances and age differences. In fact, the only records I have on the older children of John and Delphia are from the family bible. Hope this gives a little greater insight. Thanks for asking and I hope someone sees a family member. Scott > >> Greetings, >> I am new to the list and have been reading it for just a while. I'm at >> a standstill on leads right now. 3. Hello, All, I am just joining this list and would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name, though mis-spelled, is John Hollaway, residing at this time in Austin, Texas (actually in Georgetown, northern border of Austin). My home page is: http://lonestar.texas.net/~hollaway My Holloways supposedly started out in Amhearst Co, Va; then on to Tennessee & Ky, and ended up in Gasconade Co., Mo. My father was Thomas Vernon Holloway, so of Thomas Jefferson Holloway, son of George Washington Holloway (do you sense a trend here), so of Thomas Percival Holloway (broke the trend) and son of Nancy & ???, which is my dilemna I show John Patrick Holliway and Nancy Kenibruh as my ggg-grandparents, but I doubt that that is true. Just place holders until the truth is known. If you recognize a possible relationship here, please don't hesitate to e-mail me. I will gladly send Gedcom files on my family tree to anyone who requests them. Any help given will be appreciated. Regards................John Regards........John

    1. [HOLLOWAY-L] Holloway Coat of Arms?
    2. Bill Holloway
    3. A Holloway coat of arms is described in William Holloway and His Descendants, 1950, by Higginson, as: "Gules, a fesse ermine between three crescents argent. Crest, a demi-lion rampant, guardant purpure." This is described as one of eight Holloway coats of arms identified in Burke's General Armory. Does anyone have additional information on the description and history of the Holloway coats of arms? I was able to order a highly detailed graphic of the above described coat of arms on the Web through http://www.demon.co.uk/heritage/heraldry/ for $13.00. It arrived within 5 days as an email attachment and is similar to the one pictured on page xi of Higginson's book. William E. Holloway ggggggggrandson of William Holloway of Boston, MA, b1586 Somerset?, England p.s. Does anyone know with some certainty of the place of birth of my distant ancestor, Wm Holloway of Boston?

    3. I think there is a good chance there is a connection SOMEWHERE. Barnes is not a common first name, after all. >Mary, There are several of us >researching the other Barnes HOLLOWAY who married to Sarah MEADOR/MEADOWS on >Aug. 14, 1780 (Bedford County, Va.). In time family members migrated to >Ga.,Ala.,Ms., and Tx. Could both families be from the same "Line of >HOLLOWAYS"???????????? Gary I'm going to copy and paste some info below. **PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS AS COMPLETELY SUBSTANTIATED FACT!!!!!!!! IT IS NOT!!!!!!!!!** (Well, I apologize for shoutingfor shouting, but I wanted to make sure you heard me.) It's kinda like a logic problem, you know--sometimes you just have to make a guess and see how it spins out. And if the first guess has anomalies, you work through the next logical step. . . This is merely what things would look like IF my Minter were the son of William (Billey) and brother of Barnes HOLLOWAY. Descendants of John HOLLOWAY - 20 Nov 1998 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --- FIRST GENERATION 1. John HOLLOWAY. He was married.
