Need a family for BARNES HOLLOWAY b abt 1789 at Eatonton (Putnam Co) GA d abt 30 Aug 1842 in Red River now Bowie Co TX. Enlisted in the Army for the Duration of the War of 1812; fought at the Battle of New Orleans. Married Widow Jane Tinder, widow of Abel Tinder in Madison Co AL. Barnes was appointed to lay out the lines for Marion Co AL with some other men. Father of James M. (DSP), Melissa Jane md Wilson Wright, William G. (DSP), Barnes Mutitus md Elizabeth V. Hall, John Griffen md Lucy J. Peacock, Mahala Ann md Francis C. (Frank) Baker. After Barnes' death, widow Jane moved to Hickory Hill, Cass now Marion Co TX. She died in a nursing home at Jefferson TX. Two later census indicated Barnes was born in VA, which was an error according to his enlistment record. However this indicates a link with the VA Holloways. Paid for research on the Billy Holloway who removed to TN from VA & had son Barnes Holloway. This was not my line. Can someone help?
just a test for Ken Taylor Gary
John T. Holloway (1826-1907) married in Orange County NC in 1857 to Amanda Ann Cooley (1833-1893). Both died in Danville, Twiggs County, Georgia. Their children, all born in NC, were: Martha, born 1859 Frannie, born 1860 W.P., born 1862 C.C., born 1864 Eliza, born 1867 Rebecca, born 1869 John T. Jr, born 1871 James, born 1873 Carrie, 1876 This family is listed in the Twiggs County, Georgia, census of 1880 under the name HOLLOMON, but believe HOLLOWAY is correct. Any info appreciated. Thanks. Shelly
I'm new to the mail list so I'll introduce myself. I'm Henry M. (Hank) Holloway Jr. I was born in Tuscaloosa Alabama, 1946. My Father was born in Jonesboro? Georgia. He had a brother Homer (resident of Atlanta) and several sisters (Lois was one) all of Atlanta. My Paternal Grandmother's Maiden Name was Kennedy. Uncle Homer's son Richard (Dick) plays (played) for the Atlanta Symphony or so I was told many years ago. I do have a few additional details which I will post as soon as I can uncover them again. Posted this message at the time of the crash so in case some didn't see it will try again. Hi to all, Am searching here for someone else re their Mary Holloway who was born abt 1829 and married Thomas Mason in the Registry Office in Bristol in 1847. Mary's occupation was a staymaker, her father was John Holloway a flax dresser. The bap of an Ann Holloway in 1813 at St James Parish, Bristol, dau of John and Harriet Holloway has been noted as John's occupation was a Flax Dresser. Very possible/probable the same family? It also appears there are many records missing from these Parish records after 1822. Any info/advice would be appreciated. Regards Lynne
