Malissa HOFFPAUIR b. 1858 d. 1928 buried next to Francis Their daughter: Mineola HOFFPAUIR b. 1 Aug 1886 d. 12 May 1929 m. Daniel Leonard GRIFFIN 16 July 1912. Daniel was b. 14 Nov 1879 d. 12 July 1952 Daniel was a Methodist minister who trained for the ministry with his brother-in-law Albert GEORGE, husband of Susan Ruth HOFFPAUIR. I have the name of the seminary in my records, but not at my finger tips. The children of Daniel and Mineola were: 1) Mary Ruth GRIFFIN b. 10 July 1913 d. 13 Aug. 1987 in Shreveport, LA and is buried at Forest Park Cemetary there. m. Robert Charles LAWTON in 1933. He was born 19 July 1908 and died 27 July 1967 also buried at Forest Park in the Lawton section next to Mary Ruth. Their children: stillborn son - 20 Sep 1938 stillborn son - 22 May 1940 Raymond Winburn LAWTON b. 28 Nov 1947 d. 26 Aug 1956 at Baton Rouge, LA All above children are buried at Forest Park in Shreveport. 2) Kenneth Vernon GRIFFIN b. 23 July 1919 Minden, LA d. 20 Sep 1997 Tyler, TX m. i. Ernest Raymond Young Marjorie aka Margie lives in Amite, LA currently and is the organist for the Methodist church there. She is retired from teaching. She and Mary Ruth both took their teaching degrees at LSU and both taught 2nd grade for more than 20 years. Mineola died when Margie was only 2 and Mary Ruth was 16. She had cancer. Daniel had a breakdown after her death and the children were all farmed out. Margie went to her aunt Susan Ruth, Mary Ruth to Aunt Dolly (I think, will check with my Aunt Margie) Eddie was retarded from brain damage that occured during a babyhood illness and went to another relative (again I need to check my records). Kenny and Raymond went to an orphanage. Kenny later went to live with his dad's sister, Hattie Griffin SHANKS and her husband Bob. Ken and his wife Helen moved to California in 1949. Although I was born in Illinois, I was only 9 months old when they moved to Ca. and have lived here ever since. Currently I am in Bakersfield, CA. Well, I think that's enough for one posting.
