Linda, I'm not sure which hotel you are referring to but my great-grandfather, Elias Spell, owned the Old Gordan Hotel in Lafayette, LA. I believe that after he died my great-grandmother, Gertrude Hoffpauir Spell, still kept it open for awhile until it was sold. Also, I'm not sure about the dates...I will have to look. I have some information about it from the Historic Society.
