    3. According to Rosemary Hoffpauir's book: "Apparently, Thomas Hoffpauir was honored by having a small strem of water named for him. (See Opelousas U.S. Land Office Archives, Volume 1, Part1, Page 63). Dated 13th July 1820: Signed Robert Taylor, agent of Bertanney, 2400 arpents, which 30 arpents front on Bayou Hoffpauir. This claim and title a request in 14 July 1820. The bayou named Hoffpauir is a rather short and shallow stream which flows from east to west terminating in the town of Bunkie, LA." -----Original Message----- From: LindaS <thoffpauer@alsace.zzn.com> To: HOFFPAUIR-L@rootsweb.com <HOFFPAUIR-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Friday, March 17, 2000 3:56 AM Subject: Landmarks >Hi, I came across the following references and was wondering if >anyone could tell me more about these landmarks mentioned.
