    3. Sharon, I don't believe that Starkus and Malissa were twins, in fact, I believe that they were born about a year apart. I use as my reference for this the fact that they are both listed as children in the household of Nathan Hoffpauir in the 1860 census of Lafayette Parish. Starkus is listed as Mackor (?) 2 years old, and Mallisa is listed as Malian, 1 year old. This kind of entry seems unlikely if they were actually twins. To view this information, go to this URL: ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/la/lafayette/census/laf1860.txt and use your browser to search for "Naham Hoffpauir" (note the spelling is Naham, not Nathan).
