Arlene, I too am interested in Jesse Monroe Hodges who left S.C. in 1840s to go to MO. and later from there to Oregon. It is believed that he belongs to a group called the "Isle of Wight Virginia" family. That family is Henry, Robert Sr., Robert Jr., Richard- died 1752 in S.C. I have seen various postings on this in the last few years, but I have never entered this info in my records because working towards the present generation from Richard d. 1752 has not been documented. I suppose I have some of that info filed on paper somewhere, but I think if you search the archives of rootsweb you can find this. Also, there is a fellow named Ken Robinson who is kin to Jesse Monroe Hodges. He would be a lot more authoritve than I. Hopefully he or others will see this and help you. If not, I will try to scrounge up what I have.
