In Part 6 of my series of posts on this subject I had the following record: Nov. 1749 will of Thomas Hodges, Cumberland Co. Va. naming wife Christian and children William, John, Drury, Thomas, Edmund, Mary, Delaney, and James (?). Proved Mar. 1750. Cumberland Co. (Va.) Will Book 1, page 6. This contains an error. Thomas Hodges only had seven children ("my seven children" are the residuary legatees of the will), so there is no James. The seven are William, John, Drury, Thomas, Edmund, Mary, and Delany. William Julius Riddle was in Orange County, NC August of 1764 as on that date court minutes show where it was "ordered that a road from Hodges Ford to Copeland's Landing on Haw River be opened and repaired by William Riddle,Thomas Holden, James Holden, Richard Kirk, Cary Minter, Richard Holden, James Brantley, John Sheppard, Benjamin Braswell, William Gamblin and George Wooten and that William Riddle be overseer thereof ". http://www.weberontheweb.com/FamTree/Riddle/public/n_5.html
