I dug around a little in the archives and I have these suggestions. Here is a record of one of the Charles Hodges: Charles Hodges b. c 1805 in S. C. married Mary Snider in 1834 in Union County, Illinois. They had one son, William T. Hodges born 1835 in Illinois He seems to track James and Rebecca Hodges, and their son Hezekiah, from S.C. to Union County, Ill. This record doesn't mention the time in Tennessee and Alabama, but I bet you will find him there. I think one way to find out more about Jesse Monroe is from his military records. If he was at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend and New Orleans, and has pension files (the archives indicate he has two, and was mustered out in Rhea County, Tennessee, it ought to be easy to figure out what unit he was in and where that unit was organized. He probably lived there at the time. I'd be willing to bet it was in Tennessee and not South Carolina. Once you know where he lived, youcan look for other Hodges. My experience is that they moved in family groups. Many of the "Intruders" of the Sims Settlement served in the military in the War of 1812. After they were evicted from teh Creek Territory, they went to various places in Tennessee. William Hodges apparently went to Smith County, where one of his children was born. Bob Hodges
