    1. [HODGES-L] Unified Family Theory 2003: Union Co., Illinois

    3. In my first several posts on this subject I noted the move of some of the Hodges from Madison County, Alabama, to Union County, Illinois. It is not my purpose to trace this family, only to note that most of them appear to be decendants of James and Rebecca Hodges of Madison County, Ala. One who is not is Isaiah Hodges, who appears in the 1850 Census of Union County, Illinois. He is the son of Asa Hodges, son of Isham Hodges of Henry County, Virginia, and Chloe Marcum. Here is his information: Isaiah Hodges b. ca. 1800, Va. (per 1850 census), prob. Franklin County, Va. m. Martha Hodges, Sept. 6, 1823, Sumner Co., Tenn. Sumner Co., Tenn. Marriage Records. m. (2nd) Martha Hahn, ca. 1840, Union Co., Ill. Illinois Statewide Marriage Index. 1850 Census, Union Co., Ill., West part of Dist. #2, Aug. 1850 Isaiah Hodges wm50 farmer b. Va. Martha Hodges wf50 b. Va. Romulus Hahn wm15 farmer b. Ky. Martha Hodges wf10 b. Ky. John Thomas wm12 b. Ia. (Indiana?) It is interesting that one of the Franklin County, Virginia Hodges shows up among the South Carolina-Alabama Hodges in Union County, Illinois, and another (Asa M. Hodges) shows up among the Lawrence County, Alabama Hodges as well. Martha Hodges who married Isaiah in 1823 was the daughter of Aaron Hodges, son of Isham Hodges of Henry County, Virginia, and Elizabeth Markham, so it sounds like Isaiah and Martha may have been double first cousins.
