Ken: I don't have any documentation, just hear say. Supposedly Benjamin was the father or grandfather of Nancy Hodge b abt 1812. She had three children out of wedlock with Isaac Garland, later married Isaac Garland and then in 1845 married Hardin Hurley. One descendant of Hardin and Nancy had some information given to her by a family member that was done by a genealogist that stated that Benjamin was the father or grandfather of Nancy Hodge and that he was born in SC. I've seen no documentation. I've requested some documatation but unless you constantly pressure the people it seems that it kinda goes by the side Its always seemed a little strange that a person would move into Tenn. from SC, seems like most of the SC people were on their way further south. Benjamin was in the 1830 census of Carter Co TN, but not in the 1840. I suspect that he was the gentleman of the house that was 70 - 79 yrs of age. In 1840 there was an Elizabeth Hodge in the Carter Co census that had a man age 90-99 and I have often wondered if he could have been Benjamin with a misquoted age. I have no idea who Elizabeth Hodge was either. I've run into one other Hodge family in Carter Co. that had an Emanuel and a Calaway Hodge in it, but these people were reported to have moved back to Lee Co. in Virginia. Down the line from Nancy was Littleton Hodge (should have been Garland) who had a bunch of kids. My direct line is thru James Calloway Hodge the first born of Littleton Hodge. Enough said for now. Thanks and keep me informed if something comes up. Jim Hodge
