Finally located something on James Valpeau that was posted on the list a while back. I believe by Brenda Hester. James b. ca 1841 and md. Terrie Edith Gowan, had 14 siblings, 4 in the Civil War. His father was Dr. Joseph Alexander Hodges who was born in SC in 1809. Joseph married Harriet Caroline Watts in Clark Co., Ms. in 1834. Harriet was b. in Ga. in 1815 and was probably the d/o James and Nancy Watts of Wayne and Clark Co.'s. Joseph's father was Thomas, b. ca 1773 in SC and his mother was unknown. Thomas moved to Wayne Co. before 1820 and was listed in the 1820 and 1830 census for Wayne. It appears that Thomas only had one child and that his wife was somewhat older than him. It is possible that they had other children but Joseph was the only one living at home in 1820. I'll work on the siblings and see if I can connect them. Ken in Orlando
