    3. Can anyone tell me why a will of Richard HODGES was dated 1747 in Beaufort NC and was proven in Beaufort Co. NC in 1752 and on record in the court house in Charleston. Also was recorded in Anson Co. NC. There is a deed of a purchase to a Richard Hodges 5 Sep 1750 in Marlboro Co. SC of 350 acres. (there was no Marlboro Co. then) . I do not have copie of the Will or the deed. Problem: there is a Richard Hodges in Beaufort, who made a will in 1749 - tradition says he moved to SC and d. 1752. Had a son John in Beaufort and some other children, tradition says this son John then went to SC and took up his father's property. But there is also, a John I b 1720 and Rebecca in Old Cheraw Dist. SC with a son John II. There is a record of a Richard there. This John I b VA has a brother William identified in Cumberland Co. NC. "Richard Hodges baptized a Dec 2, 1752 as son of John Hodges & Rebecca at Parish Prince Frederick Winyah, being 3 weeks old". (Nat'l Soc of Col Dames 1916 p. 37). Question: Would John I living in Long Bluff, Old Cheraw Dist, Craven Co. SC - (1785 became Marlboro & Darlington Cos.) - have traveled to this Parish, Frederick in Winyah, to baptize a 1st born in 1752, and no others of their children baptized there. John I and John II attended the Welsh Neck Church in Cheraw Dist. SC. John II later attended the Cashway Ch in Darlington. appreciate any help thank you josie jbass@digital.net 216 Beach Park Lane Cape Canaveral, FL 32920-5003 Home of The *HARRISON* Repository & *MY FAMILY* http://moon.ouhsc.edu/rbonner/harintro.htm Our Family WWW: http://moon.ouhsc.edu/rbonner/index.htm LINDSAY & HARRISON Surnames & CSA-HISTORY Roots Mail List GENCONNECT: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/indx/FamAssoc.html Data Managed by beautiful daughter Becky Bass Bonner and me, Josephine Lindsay Bass
