(Update) We have just increased this already large and popular database by adding three more volumes. This addition brings the total number of volumes to 139. The National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution is one of the oldest organizations in the United States dedicated to the preservation of American Revolutionary War genealogies. This database, containing references to Revolutionary War ancestors and their descendants, was created from "Lineage Books of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution." These lineage books contain information submitted by tens of thousands of individuals with connections to Revolutionary War patriots. This collection now contains nearly 2.2 million names and is a valuable collection for anyone with ancestors who fought in the American Revolution. At Ancestry.com, we look forward to increasing the size of this extremely valuable database. Return often as the size of this valuable database is periodically increased. This database contains the ship listings of a number of Huguenot refugees who traveled to Virginia in 1700. The two ships, the Mary and Ann and the Peter and Anthony, arrived in James City on the 12th of August and 20th of September respectively. Each record reveals the adult passenger's name and number of minors in their company. In some cases the person's previous occupation and residence is provided. To those seeking Virginian and Huguenot ancestors, this can be a useful collection. Bibliography: Anonymous. "Two Ships to Virginia." Orem, UT: Ancestry, Inc., 1999. This database, originally published in 1906, is a diary kept by a fictional miner created by Chauncey Canfield. Despite the invented stories and experiences in this collection, researchers will find actual accounts of Nevada City and neighboring Rock Creek. It also provides details of gold mining operations in the area and descriptions of the living conditions of foreign-born mineworkers. For researchers trying to better understand the life of a typical gold miner in California, this database can provide interesting and illumination information. Bibliography: Library of Congress.
