I only know of one Elijah Hodges from Franklin County. He was my 3xgreatgrandfather and did not have a son Elijah. There are three Elishas that I know of. One is the brother of Elijah above. Another was a son of Abednego Hodges. And the third was a son of William Hodges. All of these are probably at least two generations older than the man you are looking for (i.e., born in the 1790's). I assume you have not found him on the 1860 Census fo Franklin County, so my best suggestion would be to get a list of all the Hodges on the 1852 personal property tax list for Franklin County. It theoretically lists all males over the age of 16. It is probably available from the Clerk's office in Rocky Mount There is no marriage listed in Wingfield's book for a Rebecca Jenkins and a Hodges, or a Rebecca Jenkins and anybody, or a Hodges and a Rebecca anybody. I know that this is no answer, but it may help narrow it down. Unfortunately, being named Hodges in Franklin County is like being named Smith or Jones most other places.
