Well---It's been about 6 months since I've sent out a query on this individual. So far I have seen nothing on this family. I keep hoping I can help someone on this line, and they could help me. I'm still looking for information on John Allen Hodges. Verbal family history in 1893 states that John Allen Hodges was descended from three brothers (heard that before). They lived on the "Virginia side of North Carolina". John Allen Hodges was born in 1754/1755, either in Virginia or North Carolina. He moved to the Claiborne Co. Tennessee area about 1789. From 1789 on, he is well documented in Tennessee sources. Nothing is known before 1789 about him, or any other family members he had before that time. John Allen Hodges b. c. 1754/55 only references are Pittsylvania Co. Virginia or Big Springs, NC d. 7/26/841 Tazewell Tenn. -- on tombstone "aged 87 years" also on stone "son of John Hodges 1832" Spouse: Sallie (Sarah) Mccubbins b. c. 1774 Big Springs, NC (Washington County?) d Tazewell, Tennessee Father: Zachariah McCubbins b.1752 Baltimore Co. Md. d. 1834 Claiborne Co. Tennessee Mother: Sarah (Sallie) Lane b. Lunenburg Co. Va. 1754 d. Claiborne Co. Tennessee A local source in Claiborne County (P.G. Fulkerson), remembered the father of John Allen Hodges was "Henry". On John Allen Hodges' tombstone is "son of John Hodges 1832". J.A. Hodges last child was born 1814, so I'm not sure what this means. Does anyone have information on a Henry or John Hodges that match up with any above dates?? Thanks, Earl Hodges
