Trying to prove that the Bartholomew Hodge (b. 1810) who md. Nelly Mitchel was the eldest son of Rachel Hodge (b. 1/10/1793 in Grainger Co., Tn.). 1823 Grainger County Court minutes 5/147 Hodges, Rachel was ordered to appear in Court 19 May 1823 and "show cause, if any she has, why the Court should not bind out Bartholomew Hodges and Emaline Hodges, minors". In the 1840 census, Nelly was living next to Rachel and Elizabeth (Holston) Hodge who was the widow of Eli Hodge, Rachel's brother. 1840 census of Grainger Co. Gr-175 Rachel was the daughter of Ambrose (b. c1765 in Ireland, died after 1830 in Grainger, s/o Francis and Martha (Sproat) Hodge) and Elizabeth (?) Hodge. Possible siblings: Eli, Moses, John, Edmond (Edward). Rachel Hodge, no record of any marriage, had issue: Bartholomew, Emeline, Priscilla, unk. daughter, William, Moses, and my G-G-pa, John, b. 1834 in Grainger Co. Tn..
