    3. My GG-Grandfather was Dennis Newton Hodges (b. 1831 in TN) who later lived in Johnson Co., TX & Stonewall Co., TX. He also lived in Itawamba Co., MS and married Sarah Jane Walker there in Guntown, Itawamba Co., MS. Dennis served as a LT. in the Civil War in the 10th MS Cav as did his brother, Edmund and perhaps other brothers as well. The father of Dennis was Isaac Hodges & mother Rebecca McClain (of perhaps McLane or some other similar derivation). I am certain that Isaac had a brother named Edmund or Edmond who served in the War of 1812 and died in Hardeman Co., TN. I am not certain of the names of their children; but since your family had names similar to mine, I suspect that their may very well have been a connection. Isaac is believed to have been born in Abbeville Dist. of South Carolina around 1790; however, the 1790 census for that area shows John Hodges, Drury Hodges and Abel Hodges. The John line is well documented and I have somewhat followed the Drury line to Alabama and Missouri but the Abel documentation is more difficult to trace. I am curious as to your thoughts and/or comments?
