Part VII Tennessee / Alabama / Mississippi 1809- Fleming Hodges, son of William 1754, and Samuel Johnson from Smith Co., Tenn and later in Wilson Co rode horseback into Nashville to buy eighty acres tract of land in Madison Co., Mississippi Territory. 1810- Sims Settlement along Elk Creek in what became Limestone Co., Alabama. Settlers believeing that they were moving onto lands ceded by the Cherokee moved onto lands of the Chickasaws. The Chickasaws appealed to the U. S. Gov’t and Col. Meigs of the USA began to force the settlers out. The settlers petitioned Pres. Madison to stay on the lands. Among the petitioners were William Hodges shown as signature no. 61, James Hodges shown as signture 61, John Hogges shown as signature 97, another John Hodges as signature 222. List of names from the Miss. Territorial papers (1809-1817). 1816- census of Monroe Co., Miss Territory list William Hodges and William Young south of the Tenn River. Also shown is James Hodge(s). 1817- William Hodges again appears on second list of Sims Petitioner, see Dixon book. 1819- Fleming Hodges, Senator / Representative to Alabama Legislature 1820- Fleming Hodges, Senator / Representative to Alabama Legislature 1821- Fleming Hodges, Senator / Representative to Alabama Legislature 1822- Asa Hodges, son of William, grandson of William (1754-1842) born in Alabama 1824- Elizabeth Kearby Hodges dies and is buried near Lacy’s Spring, Morgan Co., Alabama. A Davis kinsman lived at Centerville, before it flooded away and a Kearby kinsman was at Triana about 10 miles upstream. 1828- Fleming Hodges, son of William (1754-1842) dies in Lawrence Co., Alabama 1928- William Hodges, Senator / Representative to Alabama Legislature 1929- William Hodges, Senator / Representative to Alabama Legislature 1830- Wm. Hodges 1754 had blacksmith shop on Priceville Mountain, Morgan Co.? 1830- Wm. Hodges marries Elizabeth McGlathery Sims, widow of Joel Sims (d.1827) 1830 - census of Lawrence Co., Ala. lists John, Martha, Asa, and William Hodges (son of Wm.1754) 1834- Wm. Hodges patented land in Morgan Co., Al. adjacent to Valentine Sims, son of Joel Sims, and adjoining McGlathery and Yeager, relatives of Eliz McGlathery Sims. 1843- Wm Hodges buried at Earling Cemetery(?) in Wolf Springs, Lawrence Co., Alabama or at the homesite (SW1/4 SE1/4 Section 27., T5S, R9W) Itawamba Co., Miss 1838- Fleming Hodges, son of Wm. Hodges XXX patents land in Itawamba Co., Miss, Cert No. 4101 1839- Fleming Hodges grantor to James Hodges, grantee, land in Itawamba Co., Mar 5, 1839 1845- David Sims, stepson of Wm. Hodges 1754, and wife Nancy Fuller Sims, granddau. of Wm Hodges, patent land in Itawamba Co., Miss, signature date of 4 Jan 1845. 1843- James Hodges and Samuel Lowry separately patent two different pieces of land in Itawamba Co., Miss., signature date of 15 June 1845 (lowry is mentioned because of family tie to Sims going back to Laurens Co. SC. Probable relative of Eliz McGlathery Sims)
