Sarah Blount Dau. of Joseph Blount and Sarah Bonner who was the Dau. of Col. James Bonner of Beaufort Cty. N.C.] Thomas Hogg 1789 Edgecomb Cty. BRO. Samuel Hogg Exc. Samuel Eliza Wife John Baptist Hogg Joshua Hodges of the Newbern District later moved to Georgia. See "Roster of Revolutionary Soldiers by Mrs. Howard H. Mc Call page 91 for following: Joshua HODGES, Sr. Born in nc oct. 13, 1736; died in Bullock Co., Ga. March 12 ?, 1809. He served in the militia from Martin Co., NC under Capt. Kenneth Mc Kenzie on a tour of duty, 1780; received a land grant in Burke Co., Ga for his service. He married in North Carolina, Ann Raiford. All of their children lived and died in Bulloch County, Ga except daughter Aley, who married and removed to Lowndes Co., Ga. (Also see "Pioneers of Wiregrass Ga Vol. 1" by Folks Huxford, page 60). 270 vol. 22 "Colonial Records of NC; Joshua Hodges a member of the volunteers and drafts raised in Martin Co., NC (Not dated, but along with dates of 1778) Joseph Hodges in militia from New Bern District was Joseph Hodges of 1790 Census Edgecombe Co., NC. Joseph in Cont. Army was the same person. Floyd Hodges in militia in New Bern District was Floyd Hodges who was in Pitt Co., NC. See "More Hodges Records for Beaufort and Pitt counties. Henry Hodges in militia from Newbern District was son of Henry of 1790 Census Pitt Co., NC. James Hodges in militia in Newbern District was James (son?). Henry of 1790 Census Pitt Co., NC. Wyllis Hodges in 10th NC Reg. was the same as Willis of 1790 Census Edgecombe Co., NC. Wm. Hodges was a private in Sharpe's Co. in which Israel Harding was sargent. Harding lived in Beaufort Co., NC. John Hodges was a Lieutenant Apr. 16, 1776 in Fifth NC Regt. (of which Reading Blount was Lieut. Colonel). See pages 415 to 426 Vol. 1, No. 3, NC Register. Reading Blount was in Pitt Co., NC Vol. 16, Colonial Rec. NC Pages 1082 Mr. Rosco Gorham (aforesaid) also has in his possession a grant from the state of NC to "Richard Hodges....a tract of land containing one hundred and fifty acres, lying and being in the County of Beaufort on the north side of Moys beaverdam and east side of gum swamp, beginning at a stake Col, James Bonner's line and at the place where Brown's patent line crosses the same twenty-three poles from Benjamin Hodges gum corner on the gum swamp running Bonner's Patent line south, twenty east three hundred and fifty eight poles to Snoad's line, then his line north nineteen east seventy-six poles to his corner, then....to a pine Matthew and Henry Hodges corner then north....to (torn) Hodges corner....to Bonner's....exclusive of fifty acres of land already granted to Charles Cherry. Entered the 30th day Sept. 1799. Signed (23rd Nov. 1799) by Benjamin Williams, (Govenor) Another deed owned by Rosco Gorham: "This indenture made this 2nd day of April (torn) between Henry Hodges Sr. of the one part and his son Richard Hodges of the aother part, both of the County of Pitt and state of NC Witnesseth that the said Henry Hodges for and in consideration of the love and natural affection which he hath and beareth unto his son Richard Hodges....hath given, granted....tract....of land situated in Beaufort County on the north side of Moyes Beaver Dam Swamp....
