Hi April, The earliest Hodge/s in the NE corner of Tennessee arrived in the mid to late 1700's so there were many families after 1800. One of the lines was of Francis Hodge (Irish, b. 1745 d. 1798, my line) in Sullivan Co. and John Hodges (Welsh, b. ca 1740) in Washington Co.. Both had an Annis in the line but can't tell if one is yours. Do you have any additional info that might help me to narrow the choices. Do you live in this area? Ken, I have corresponded with April before and believe the following line of John William "Buck" is the one she is seeking help for. If you'll remember, I contacted you quite some time before asking if you knew of any "Buck" Hodges from this area. Evidently, she is still searching for a lead on her line. P.J. and April, If the Annis J. Hodges (b. 11/07/1850, d. 12/23/1921) is the correct one, and I believe she is since she is buried near Garfield Hodges (b. 8/11/1881, d. 9/15/1930), then she is from your line of John. Other Hodges buried there are: Howell A. Hodges (12/11/1816 - 6/01/1908) m. 11/23/1837 Washington Co. sp. Sarah Ann Crouch There is some confusion in that Howell, in 1860 had a daughter living with him named Annis J.B. at age 19. In 1850 they were in Green Co. and Annis was 10. Another one of the line, Canada Clinton Hodges married Ina Mae Durham and had a son named Buck. Ina Mae's parents were Tyra Mitchell and Edna Ella (Whitaker) Durham. It seems that many of the pieces fit but not to the right puzzle. April, what is the source of your earlier info? Do you have original documentation? The reason that I asked if you lived in that area was that it might be the right time for a trip to the courthouse in Johnson City. Most of these dates are too current for my files. P.J., I'll be up there next week on a reunion trip and if it's OK with you I'll give you a call.
