    3. Kevin - Your Charles was 107 years old when he died, if your dates are correct. If that is correct, there should be some mention of his death in a local paper or county history. Williamson Co., TX is adjacent to Travis Co. where Austin is the county seat and the capitol of Texas, so perhaps the Austin papers would have carried the information about your Charles Hodges' death. The first newspaper in Texas was 1813 Nacogdoches (East part of the state). In 1835, the "Telegraph & Register" was pub- lished in Galveston. In 1850, Texas had five tri-weekly newspapers and 29 weekly papers with a combined circulation of 771,524 copies. I will see if Clayton Library has a county history with any info on your Charles Hodges the next time I go.
