In a message dated 99-04-21 11:13:53 EDT, you write: << In 1850, Texas had five tri-weekly newspapers and 29 weekly papers with a combined circulation of 771,524 copies. >> Hi Gerry, This caught my eye and I wonder if you have a URL where I can get the names of the newspapers? I'm interested in several counties in the northeast part of Texas beginning around 1850--Clay, Cooke, Grayson, Kaufman, Titus, Wood, et al. I'm researching descendants of William Cayson Hodges of McNairy County, VA, including my gggrandfather, James George Hodges and his brothers and a sister. One of J.G.'s sons, George Dallas Monroe Hodges, my ggrandfather, married Caroline Jones of Cooke County. I'm also researching the Brown family of Clay Co. and the Patton family of Kaufman Co. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Jim Hodges
