FLAKE b 1834 Screven Co GA m 21 Sep 1854 Effingham Co GA m Andrew E. HODGES b 20 Dec 1833 d 8 Dec 1908 Andrew E. HODGES is buried at Malette Cemetery (evidently misidentified as Turkey Branch Methodist Church Cemetery Part II by one recorder of cemetery inscriptions) with Josephine F. HODGES b 31 May 1847 d 26 Aug 1914, Gazzie D. HODGES b 19 Oct 1881 d 9 Oct 1916 and Clyde Irvin HODGES b 25 Jul 1916 buried 9 Feb 1919, son of Susie & Charlie HODGES; Andrew E. HODGES' stone: "He served four years in the Confderate Army Co. D [not "B" as shown in Effingham Co GA Cemetery Book] - 47th Ga. Reg."). Andrew E. HODGES enlisted in Company D, 4th Batallion, "Screven Guards," as a private on 4 Mar 1862; his unit transferred to the 47th Regiment 12 May 1862; clothing was issued to him on 5 Mar 1864; pension records show he surrendered at Greensboro NC 26 Apr 1865. Andrew was the eldest child of William HODGES (b 8 Nov 1798 m 5 Apr 1833 Screven Co GA d > 1860, son of John HODGES) & Martha W. They had three children Iva, Anna, and Martha. He married 2nd Josephine Frances MALLETTE, d/o Elbert Lewis MALLETTE and Eliza Gracy Ann WILSON. They had 10 children.
