I am new to the list and am researching Charles Hodge, (no s) born 1801, S.C. He married Anna Jane Basden about 1830, in Troy, Pike Co., AL. They lived in Pike Co., AL until middle 1840's, then to Ouachita Co., AR. Anna Jane was the dau. of Jesse Basden and Mary Powell. Charles Hodge lived in Manning, Clarendon Co., AC. He may have been a son of Benjamin Hodge and Sarah Marriott or Merritt, this has not been proven. Charles was trained as a tanner and shoemaker. Goodspeed's Biography of the Hodge family stated Charles was Irish. Would really appreciate information on the parentage of Charles, and of course, Anna Jane. Willing to share copies of what I have.
