    2. Frank: I think your cousins may have compressed two generations. I can't be sure of my version of Moses Hodges' family, because I reconstructed it mostly from Census and marriage records, but I would have Moses Hodges, son of Isham Hodges of Franklin (then Pittsylvania, later Henry) County, Va., I.3 Moses Hodges b. ca. 1770 m. ________ Burton d. after 1829. I.3.1 (daughter) (possibly Sally Hodge) Sally Hodge married Nimrod Smith April 7, 1807. Giles County Marriage Register 23. I.3.2 George Hodge. b. ca. m. Elizabeth Flowers August 25, 1808. Giles County Marriage Register 23. I.3.3 (daughter) b. ca. 1794 I.3.4 (son) (possibly Moses Hodge) b. ca. 1794-1800 Mose Hodges married Elizabeth Jurd (?) April 29, 1816. Giles County Marriage Register 26. I.3.5 (son) (possibly Matthew Hodge) b. ca. 1794-1800 Matthew Hodge born 1800 per Census (Grayson County 1850 and 1860). Married Martha (Patsy) Perry 1836. Grayson County General Index to Marriages (Ref. 1 Marriage Register 28). I.3.5.1 John Hodge b. North Carolina ca. 1835. m. Mary ____, before 1858. I.3.5.2 Celia Jane Hodge b. ca. 1837-1838. I.3.5.3 Susan Hodge b. ca. 1839-1840. I.3.5.4 Matilda E. Hodge b. ca. 1842. I.3.5.5 Sarah (Sally) Hodge b. ca. 1843-1844. I.3.5.6 Thomas Hodge b. ca. 1847. I.3.6 (daughter) b. ca. 1800-1804 I.3.7 (son) (possibly William Hodges) b. ca. 1804-1810 William Hodges married Elizabeth McKnight 1828. Grayson County General Index to Marriages (Ref. 1 Marriage Register 46). I.3.7.1 (daughter) (shown as age 0-5 in 1830 Census). I.3.8 (son) (possibly Major Hodge) b. ca. 1804-1810 Major Hodge b. ca. 1808. Wife Elizabeth b. ca. 1807. Major Hodges m. (1st) Elizabeth Sexton, June 12, 1829, Surry County. Marriage Records of Surry County, North Carolina 46. m. (2nd) E.J. Jackson (age 26), Carroll Co., Va., Feb. 11, 1869. d. I.3.8.1 (son) b. ca. 1830. I.3.8.2 (supposed child) b. ca. 1832. I.3.8.3 (supposed child) b. ca. 1834. I.3.8.4 Mary Hodge b. ca. 1836. I.3.8.5 Haywood Hodge b. ca. 1839. I.3.8.6 Deanna Hodge b. ca. 1842. I.3.8.7 Jane Hodge b. ca. 1844. I.3.8.8 Sarah Hodge b. ca. 1847. I.3.9 (daughter) b. ca. 1804-1810 I.3.10 (daughter) b. ca. 1810-1820 I.3.11 (son) b. ca. 1810-1820 I.3.12 (son) b. ca. 1810-1820 I don't KNOW any more than what is posted on the website, but I think this is more logical. Moses' age is based on his age at enlistment in the War of 1812. George was definitely his son as shown by Franklin County records. I thought at least one of Moses sons showed up in Smyth County at some point, but I could not find the records tonight. Did you find this (and other) information in the archives of the list, or should I post it again?
