Good to be back on the Hodges list after a hiatus. Still looking for info on my ancestor Robert Hodges, b. abt. 1825, married Sabrina Parker, Sumter Co. Georgia 1850; died 1899 Houston Co. AL In the course of researching this line, I have discovered a Hodges line which was heretofore unknown to me. Joseph Hodges, in Laurens Co., Ga in 1817, made a deed of gift to his wife Nancy Hodges, daughter Mavel Hodges, and son John Hodges. He may have died soon afterward as I have been ablet to find no further record of him. Robert Hodges was apparently a sheriff of Twiggs County, Ga who moved to Laurens County, Georgia early 1820's. He died in 1827 in Pulaski County, Ga; his estate was administered by John J. Hodges (presumably the same John above) who sold Robert Hodges' estate "for the benefit of his heirs." By 1850, John J. Hodges had moved to Sumter Co., Ga,; census indicates he is b. abt. 1801 Ga; wife Charlott b. abt. 1803 S.C.; son Edmond b. abt. 1828. By 1858 John J. Hodges had moved to the part of Henry County, AL. that became Houston County. My ancestor Robet Hodges moved to live near him in the same area of the future Houston County in the late 1870's. My Hodges line is as follows: Descendants of Robert Hodges 1 Robert Hodges b: Abt. 1825 in Georgia d: February 10, 1899 in Houston County, Ala . + Sabrina Parker b: February 1827 in Georgia, probably Sumter County d: Aft.
