Hi Gerry, Remember what I said was the definition of an expert. [a has-been drip under pressure] I have quite a bit on the Tauton Hodges but I've never seen proof that any of them ever lived in Virginia, although others have claimed it. It may be true but I don't vouch for it. An early reference says that the first record of a Hodges in America appears in the records of Tauton Mass in 1643. This reference was to Captain William Hodges and his wife Mary Andrews, who was a shipmaster born in England. They had two sons, John and Henry. Henry Hodges married a daughter of an associate of the Captain, Esther Gallop. Notes:: . Henry Andrews b. England sp. Mary Pool b. There were just too many dissimilarities for any close relationship i.e Tauton group English and ships <> Va. group Scot-Irish and farmers. I haven't seen the message I sent Saturday, October 6, although I've received copies of others posted Sunday. I tried to check for it on the archives, but the last messages there were posted in September. Is there any way now to look at the messages posted during the current month? Should I post my message again? and do you have any idea why it might not have appeared? I know I pressed SEND because a copy appeared in my SENT box. It was properly addressed, but I didn't include HODGES-L in the subject line. Would that have caused the problem? Thanks for your help. Eva
