Thank you for your quick response! You asked for more info on Tabitha. This might get to be a long story but here goes: I am researching the Carrs from Halifax Co., VA. William Carr married Tabitha (no last name). However, I have long suspected that she might be a Hodges, because one of their sons was named William H. Carr and also that Tabitha's husband William bought land on Bradley Creek in 1777 from James Hodges. This was part of an original grant from George 2nd King of England to James Hodges. James disappeared several years after William Carr bought the property and it was only recently that I found James Hodges' Will abstract online. Since other names in the will, Glass and Shaw, are connected to Halifax Co, VA , I thought this might be the James Hodges from Halifax, VA. I also read James left ten shillings to Tabby and immediately thought this might be my clue to "Tabitha". As we all know, this might not be the case at all, but it sure is worth pursuing. I also saw the Chancery Case of William Carr vs William Glass et al that you sent me. Again this further peeks my interest. Why is William Carr in Chancery against all the heir of James Hodges? Is he looking for more money from the estate of James? I went to the Library of Virginia trying to find "anything". There are two chancery cases, but nothing in detail on either case. The only thing that I found was that it was ordered to be posted at the court house and in the newspaper for a period of two months. I tried to find it in the newspapers, but that time frame does not complete issues of newspapers. I am hoping that there is more information in Newberry Co on this chancery case, but I haven't written the archives to ask. I am guessing that James was at least 21 when he got the grant from the king. That would place him in the 1727 time frame for his birth. I am guessing that Tabitha was born abt. 1755/65 and that she and William Carr were married around 1779. I know this is all supposition, but I have been working on this line for about 14 years and this is the first clue I have found on Tabitha's maiden name. Any suggestions? Again thank you for your interest. Julia
