    3. Continuing my previous post, I haven't been able to find any further information on my (possible) ancestor John J. Hodges after his initial land purchase in Henry County, AL in 1858; I don't know if he died soon after, or moved on. 1850 Sumter County, Georgia census indicates John J. Hodges was born about 1801, Georgia; wife Charlott, born about 1803, South Carolina; son Edmond Hodges, born about 1828, Georgia, and Mary Faircloth, relationship not stated, born about 1828, Georgia. This John J. Hodges was appointed executor of Robert Hodges, who died in Pulaski County, Georgia, between Nov. 1826 and May 1827. It's uncertain whether John was the son or the grandson of Robert Hodges; legal records for Laurens County, Georgia, from which Pulaski County Georgia came, had a Joseph Hodges who deeded property to his son John, wife Nancy, and daughter Mavel in November 1817. No records of him appear after that, suggesting that he may have died at that time. This may have been the same Joseph Hodges who got headright land in Burke County, Ga. in 1791 and Effingham County in 1796. .
