Hodges June 20, 1918-May 25, 1999 MITCHELL -- Helen M. Hodges, 80, 423 W. Vine St., Mitchell, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday at her residence. Born in Hymera, she was the daughter of Oscar O. and Hattie (Brinkman) Woody. She married Willis L. Hodges on Dec. 27, 1938, and he died April 14, 1995. She was a homemaker and member of Mount Horeb Baptist Church. Surviving are four daughters: Juanita Brigman of Farmersburg, Charlotte Gerkin and Carolyn Woolston, both of Mitchell, and Sandra Nicholson of Paoli; one son, Oscar Hodges of Orleans; two brothers: Paul Woody of Tawas City, Mich., and William Cundiff of Orleans; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and one sister. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Chastain Funeral Home, Mitchell, with the Rev. Lewis Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Orleans. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
