    3. Hi Cousin Harvey! I have the answer to your question it is easy for me. Gabriel bought the farm in Schuyler County to run an underground railroad. It was used as a farm by the family, but they lived, and had those last children in Martinstown. He moved to Putman County, in Martinstown in 1842 or so. Then several years later he borrowed money for a second farm from family in Eastern Missouri. I wasn't aware of the Clark County property, but would bet my bottom dollar that he was running an underground railroad there too. He'd left Indiana because the slave catchers were getting to close sometime between 1842 and 1852. My ancestor Robert Walker Hodges told my grandfather Elias that his dad had moved to Missouri to get away from the slave catchers and that he had run an underground railroad in Missouri until the end of the Civil War. The home was always Martinstown, Putnam County, MO. Elijah ----- Original Message ----- From: "Harvey L. 3. Elijah, Thank you for your response. However, I feel that there should be some evidence that I am missing that would support your comments. Do you have a deed or other record for the property in Putnam County? Gabriel had another brother that moved to Clark County so I would assumed that they moved basically together there. Harvey Researching the following families: Bottoms/Bottom/Longbottom, Keas, Stribling/Stripling, Chambers, Hodges, Golden, Sweeney, Lovelace, Welch, Pettit, Cagle and others.
