I suggest that you try South Carolina Dept. of Archives and History 1430 Senate Street, Columbia, SC 29201 and also the book which may be available locally for you or a regional genealogy library: Index to Tombstone Inscriptions, 1930s. The Works Progress Administration; South Carolina Historical Records Survey. Each entry in this handwritten compilation includes name of the decedent, information on the tombstone, cemetery and county of burial, and printed source, if any, from which the information was extracted. The Works Progress Administration (this was active during the presidential term of FDR as a "make work" for many people who were unemployed during that time so that they could earn enough money to survive on. Write, email or otherwise inquire of the Marlboro County Clerk. I do not know their address but I bet you could find it on a web search. From looking at the atlas, Bennettsville is probably the county seat so probably a letter to the County Clerk Marlboro County Bennettsville, SC 29512 Sion Hodges is such an unusual name that I believe that I have seen it in records for either Itawamba Co., MS or Lee County, MS.
