    1. Re: [HODGES-L] Franklin County Hodges

    3. I have been researching the Hodges family of Franklin County for more than 18 years. I am aware of no resource that sorts them out. I have attempted to sort them into family groups, and my tentative conclusion is that almost all can be identified as descendants of Isham Hodges, William Hodges (probably, but not clearly, the son of Isham Hodges), Josiah Hodges, Robert Hodges, or Abednego Hodges. The relationship of those four is a matter of more or less educated guesswork (less in most cases). Even today, Hodges is one of the most common names in Franklin County. I doubt if there is any other way than to figure out if your Elijah is in the 1860 Census (I think there is an every name index for that year), and if not, get the list of Hodges from the 1854 Personal property tax list and compare that to 1860, and start concentrating on the families that moved away in between. I know that sounds tedious, but there may be no help for it. Bob Hodges ----- Original Message ----- From: Alison D.
