Deedee - I understand how you feel. I have received death certificates of people where the child who gave the info about their parents & grandparents did not know their names. It is inconceivable to me. But just recently I had an aunt who died and her daughter did not know anything about her grandmother. She should have asked me. I don't think that the lack of knowledge has anything to do with the marital status. Remember you were dealing with very elderly people here and most of their family referred to them as Grandpaw or Grandma and many did not even remember their given names. Muchless a woman's maiden name. Good luck.
