Just wanted to throw something in the pot that may cause even more confusion re: Major Hodges first name. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries some names were actual first names not titles: Major, Admiral, Squire, Pharaoh, Doctor, Lieutenant and Empress. This can really lead to confusion. I have personally found records for two individuals in Eaton County, MI named Lord Nelson Brown and Queen Anne Victoria Elizabeth Brown. I would assume that they were brother and sister although I have never checked it out.

I am new to the list, and would like to post my first query. I am researching the Bartholomew Hodge family of Surry Co, NC. His daughter, Patsey married William Rainwater about 1800 in Surry Co. Patsey Hodge was born in 1781 in Surry Co. and died about 1855 in Pulaski Co, KY. Need information on Bartholomew Hodge's wife, and other children. Would appreciate any help that I may receive! Thank you, Bertha

I am a new subscriber to the Hodges mailing list so I hope this is the correct way to introduce my branch of the family to all Hodges researchers. I am descended from Charles HODGES (ca. 1782-1889). Charles was born somewhere in TN, lived in Scott Co., AR from at least 1840 to 1860, then to Williamson Co., TX by 1870. He died in Lampasas Co., TX in 1889. I have attempted to reconstruct his family group sheet. He had at least 11 children and two wives, Pamela & Caroline. The children as far as I can tell were: Walter (ca. 1820-?), Caloway (ca. 1826-?), unknown daughter, Robert (ca. 1831-?), 2 unknown sons, Emily (ca. 1833-?), Louisa (ca. 1835-), Manerva (1836-1904), Joanna (ca. 1842-) & Claborne C. (1844-1927). I am descended from the youngest child, Claiborne C. HODGES (1844-1927). I will be happy to exchange my information with anyone also working on this line. Thanks. Kevin McCulloch
Bob, I would be interested on any information you have on Major Hodges (what is his first name?) and any children he may have had. My 4th Great-Grandfather was Levi Hodge, born in 1810-1815 in North Carolina- I believe Rowan County- that is where his children were born, and I have yet to find who he is related to there. Levi's wife is Nancy Park. I would appreciate any help you may be able to give. Thanks! Bob, I don't believe that your Major Hodge is the one I am looking for unless my dates are really off. I have them been married abt 1860. It looks as if your Major Hodge could be the father to mine, the dates would be about right. Let me know if you see this as a possible connection. Frank

As far as I know Rachel Hodge the daughter of Frances and Isham (Ice) Hodge married Samuel Ginger. That is where my whole line starts as I know it. If you find anything I would love to hear it. Take care and thank you.
