    3. I received this from a GenForum reader about Tabitha LITTLE and her possible parentage and thought I'd pass it on to those of you who are researching John Robert HODGES, Sr and Tabitha LITTLE's descendants. Are there any thoughts on this? ----- Original Message ----- From: Jane Murtishaw Lindsey <happy@hal-pc.org> To: <ddavis@logicsouth.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 14, 1999 10:28 PM Subject: Thomas Little > Diane, > > I saw your message on the Little GenForum and visited your web page. 1. [HODGES-L] Andrew Hodge, Augusta Co., Va.
    2. Kenneth Hodge
    3. The following is some additional information about Andrew, son of Samuel Hodge of Augusta Co., Va.. Does anyone have more on this line? Ken in Orlando Source: "Hodge and Allied Families" by Orlando John Hodge with notes from A. Maxim Coppage. Andrew Hodge, born 1771 in Virginia near a place called Greenbrier. Late in the last century he accompanied Daniel Boone from Virginia through Kentucky. He had a brother, Hamilton, who preceded him to Kentucky. (Coppage:: Remember that John, son of Samuel Hodge, married before July 21, 1775, Jane Hamilton daughter of Andrew and Martha in Augusta County, Virginia) Andrew returned to Virginia where he married Isabel McIntyre and soon afterwards moved to Montgomery County, Kentucky where he lived until 1808 and then became a resident of Clark County, Ohio, where his wife died about 1825. A few years later he married Jane McClintock of Virginia. By his first wife he had six children, all born in Kentucky except the last. By his second wife he had no children. The descendants of Mr. Hodge have become quite numerous, a large number of them now residing in Clark Co., Ohio, in and around Springfield. Mr. James Milton Hodge of New Moorefield, Ohio, son of James H. and grandson of Andrew Hodge, has furnished about all the information here given of this family. Andrew Hodge died at his home near Springfield, Ohio in March 1857, at a ripe old age. Six Children: 1. William Hodge, the eldest son, married Eliza Wolf and had two sons and a daughter. After his death she married a Dust and moved to Paris, Edgar County, Illinois 2. John Hodge, second son, married a Miss Baird and had a son and four daughters, all of whom are married. William, the son, resides in Clark Co., Ohio near Springfield; he has two sons and three daughters, all married, viz.: Charles who has Elmer and Harry, and John who has one young child. The three daughters, Susan, Amanda, and Dorcus may each have children but no account of any has been received. 3. Eli Hodge, third son, married Lavinia Spencer and had eight children: James H., Andrew, Mathew, Mary Jane, Angeline, Isabella, Abigail, and Sarah. Mary Jane and Abigail died young. James H. married Matilda Hendricks and has a son Edgar. Andrew, Mathew, and Sarah are living unmarried. Angeline and Isabella are married. Eli, the father, died December 7, 1852, "aged 56". Residence of the families was mostly near Springfield. 4. James H. Hodge, fourth son, born April 27, 1800, died September 23, 1878, married Elizabeth Saylor and had Samuel M., John H., James Milton, and Sarah Jane, all of whom are now living. (1900) Samuel M. has four sons and four daughters, three of the sons are married. John H. has one son. James Milton married Mary Ann Hunter and had Emma, who died at two years old, Louis S., born August 29, 1871, died August 30, 1871, Asa M., born October 3, 1873, Ida Miranda, born February 2, 1875Annie Isabella, born October 20m 1878. Sarah Jane, daughter of James H. was unmarried. 5. Sarah Hodge, Fifth child, married William Baird and had two sons and a daughter. 6. 1. Re: [HODGES-L] Andrew Hodge, Augusta Co., Va.
    2. Hi Ken, Just read your e-mail to the Hodges mailing list. Similar information was found in "Biographical Sketches of Greene and Clark Counties Ohio," "History of Champaign County, Ohio" by Judge Evan P. Middleton and "Springfield, and Clark County, Ohio and Representative Citizens" edited and compiled by Hon. William M. Rockel. I'll have to get the first book author's name Wednesday, when I go the library. But...I thought Andrew was the son of John and Jane Hodge. According to abstract of Samuel Hodge's will, found in Chalkley's Vol. 3, 139, no mention of an Andrew. But in the abstract of John Hodge's will, he mentions a son, Andrew. (Vol. 3, p. 213.) Also, Andrew's wife's name was McIntyre? I'm confused. Kay
