I am going through a collection of papers on my desk and came across a death certificate for Carrje May Minnick b 20 Oct 1897 in Oregon, died 26 Dec 1915. She was buried in the IOOF Cemetery in Los Angeles. Her father was Bryant Howard and mother Ms. Blodgett of Vermont. The informant on the certificate was H.E. Minnick of Fresno Ca. I believe that about 1810 the family left S.C. and moved to East Tenn. before moving on to Western Ky. around the mid 1820s. John was the Sheriff of Calloway Co. in the late 1820s. The 1830 Ky census indicates that he had five children living in the household. One of the female children (Elizabeth) married Pleasant Ware Evans on Oct. 22, 1846 . They are both buried in the Evans Cem. in Calloway Co. as is John. There are a lot of ties between the Evans and Hodges families and I am having a difficult time sorting it all out. I believe that John may be the brother of Edmond Hodges B.Nov. 10,1797 in South Carolina. Booker placed the children in "the poor house" when he left Grace. Nothing was ever seen or heard from Booker again. Grace knew very little about Booker or else was very tight lipped about him. None of the children know anything about him. Grace claimed she did not know his birth date, where he was born or his parents/siblings/family. He appeared like he disappeared.... without a trace.... but apparently he does exist. Grace later met a Worley STEWART, that was supposedly staying at "the poor house" where her children were. They later moved to Michigan and got married abt 1967. Worley and Grace never had any children together. (Worley STEWART b.5 JUN 1908 d. 24 APRIL 1981) Grace's daughter Betty Rae supposedly had a child by Worley. Graces parents were John F. and Leva Alice Gibson Bartley. John Bartley's parents were Levi b. 1848 d. 1898 and Sara ? Bartley. John F. Bartley was also married to Leva's sister Onecy? Leva had a sister named Della Gibson who married Dow CASTLE, and a brother the Rev. Jacob M. Gibson.
