It isn't just address, it helps find other sites that might help with vital records -- Diana >The below website has individual counties throughout the US along with costs for records and addresses. Also has over 100 genealogy sites, updated frequently, some of which are very good. Ruth in NC url: http://www.vitalrec.com This page contains information about where to obtain vital records (such as birth, death & marriage certificates and divorce decrees) from each state, territory and county of the United States. MOSES ( HODGES)1 HODGE He married ELIZABETH GARRELL Apr 29, 1860 in Giles Co., VA. She was born Abt. 1840. Notes for ELIZABETH GARRELL: For some reason the husband of Mary (Unknown) is not listed on the 1880 census. Children of MOSES HODGE and ELIZABETH GARRELL are: i. ROBERT HUFFMAN (CAPTAIN)2 HODGE, b. May 23, 1868, Smyth Co, VA; d. Feb 20, 1955, Blacksburg, VA; m. (1) NANCIE JOSIEPHINE STEPHENS, Aug 02, 1892, Giles Co., VA; b. Feb 02, 1872; d. Mar 22, 1928, Giles Co., VA.; m. Hodge was living in Abington, Washington County Virginia. The following information was given: R. H. Hodge (29) b. 5/1868 S. J. Hodge (24) b. 2/1976 Henry ( 6) b 5/1894 Belle ( 6) b 11/1893 Thomas M. ( 3) b. 10/1897 Susie M. ( 0) b. 5/1900 Although some of the dates do not match other census reports, the names indicate this is our family. The 1910 US Census list Robert H. Hodge as being born May 23, 1868. It also list Susie M. as being born February 27, 1900. I give this information because it supports the following:1880 census, Mary (Hodge) (41) Mother Newbern Dist. Pulaski County, Virginia Nora (14) Robert (12) James (10) Charles ( 7) David (5 ) The age of Robert would make him born in 1868. After the death of Josie Hodge (in Staffordville) Robert married a lady by the name Ridpath, first name unknown. It is said that she had a large number of children. On Sunday July 7, 1996 I found the graves of Robert H. (Huffman) Hodge. It was located in the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Church is located off of Rt. 100 to Rt. 663 (right turn), then left on Rt. 708 and follow the sign to the left and up the hill. (This is south of Pearisburg on Rt. 100) To the left of Robert's grave I found the grave of his first wife Nancie Josiephine Hodge. At the death of Robert Huffman Hodge there were 85 grandchildren and 77 great grandchildren. Notes for NANCIE JOSIEPHINE STEPHENS: Nancie was born Feb 02, 1872 and died Mar 22, 1928 and was buried at Pleasant Hill Church, Giles Co., VA. Hi to the Hodges list folks, Name: Hodge Family History: Charles Samuel Hodge ( 185? - 1950) and wife Eliza Phipps ( 185? - 196?) settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 1903. They came from England. She had lived in a seventeenth century home named "The Roses" in the town of Borden in Kent. Charles was a cabinetmaker and left his son, Frederick (1883 -? ), in England to complete his cabinetmaker apprenticeship. Rose, their young daughter, travelled with the family in 1903 and Frederick arrived in 1904. Fred met Margaret Adeline Buckley (1879 - 1962), a hairdresser in Toronto, and the following year they were married. Margaret had three children in quick succession while the family lived in Buffalo, New York where Fred worked on home construction. Sometime in 1911 Fred left the family and headed west. Little more was heard from him after that. He sent a letter to Margaret in 1912 suggesting reconciliation and was last seen in California in 1914. Margaret Buckley Hodge and the three children, Hazel (1907-1976), Mildred (1909 - ) and F. Joseph (1910 - ) travelled back to Canada and settled with relatives near Mount Forest, Ontario. The family is still searching for him or any kin he may have fathered since his disappearance many long years ago. > Please remember that it is okay to post any information on any Hodge/Hodges/Hedge to the list. The more info we post, the more likely that we will find connections.

The Purdy list is pretty extensive. Wish there was some way to make a list of these books so I could take it to the library. The Clayton Purdy books are the ones that have been compiled for the Francis Purdy CD that I bought. I can't find any of Clayton's books at the Denver Library, but they have them in Salt Lake City. gp
