Hi Edie, I wasn't able to find your Jackson Hodges but I do have info on the John Hodges you mention. As far as I know he didn't have a son Jackson and he lived in Washington Co., Tn. There were some Hodges and Lucus families in Davidson Co. but I couldn't find a Jackson in either line. A *GUESS* is that Jackson is his middle name, first name Andrew? viii John Hodges b. ca 1790 m. 2/27/1812 Washington Co., Tn. sp. Hi Gerry, The Edmond mentioned is from Surry Co., NC. No connection to yours that I've found. EDMOND1 HODGES was born Abt. 1770. He married ELIZABETH// Abt. 1800. Notes for EDMOND HODGES: September 23, 1834. Edmund Hodges, Elizabeth Hodges, Abel Hodges, Martha Parker, Aaron Hodges, Elizabeth Howard and Sarah Hodges witnessed the selling of 308 acres of land on the waters of Beaverdam Creek and of Fishers River in Surry Co., North Carolina to Matthew Laffoon and Co. This land was sold for $650. Edmond had bought the land from George Herring on August 18, 1813 for $1,000. They then moved to Lawrence County, Indiana. Children of EDMOND HODGES and ELIZABETH// are: i. MALE ONE2 HODGES, b. WFT Est. 1800-1810. ii. MALE TWO HODGES, b. WFT Est. 1800-1810. iii. MARTHA HODGES, b. Abt. 1804. iv. ISHAM HODGES, b. Bef. 1805, Surry Co., North Carolina; d. Abt. 1838, Lawrence Co., IN.. v. ABEL HODGES, b. August 08, 1806; d. January 30, 1899, Dickinson Co., Kansas. vi. SARAH HODGES, b. On a death certificate, there is a line for "Place of Burial, Cremation, or Removal" and then someone can put the date. I have two questions, one general, one specific. I appreciate any and all input.... 1. What does the term "removal" mean? Is it removal from or removal to? 2. On a death cert for Mary HODGE, the place/date listed under "Burial, Cremation, or Removal" is Lake Park (Cemetery) October 27, 1919. I also have her interment card from Lake Park cemetery. The card says she was interred on September 23, 1920. There is a reference on her Interment card that says, "Removal, died December 1919." I called Lake Park cemetery and they said that this means that Mary Hodge was removed from somewhere else TO Lake Park and interred on September 23, 1920. So my question is....Why are there two dates listed (one from the death cert and one on the cemetery interment card) for her interment? Where was Mary from Oct 27, 1919 to September 23, 1920? Is it possible that she was moved within the cemetery? Does anyone have any ideas what happened in this particular case? BTW - Her husband William R. HODGE died October 27, 1902 and was also "removed" on Sept. 23., 1920. Their plots are together. Now I have introduced the cast of characters. When John Pigg came to the confluence of Pigg River, Snow Creek and Turkeycock Creek in April, 1747, he was returning to a place where he had been before. On May 21, 1741, he had made entries for two 400 acre tracts, described as "on the N.th Side of the S.th fork of Stant. River beginning opposite the Mouth of Snow C.r" and "on the S.th Side of the s.d fork beginning at the Mouth of Snow C.r". Entry Book at 5. On July 12, 1741, Thomas Caldwell, William Rogers, William Caldwell, Adam McCoule, and David Caldwell made entries in and around the forks of Snow Creek, "it being the S.th B.r of the S.th Fork of Stant. River". Entry Book at 5. The next time the south fork of Staunton River is named, in a Jan. 31, 1743 entry by William Rogers and Thomas Caldwell, it is called Pigg River ("Pig River"), and has been ever since. In my next couple of posts, I will talk about the Pigg family and the Caldwell Colony.

Just saw your message on the list. Do you have any record of a Sam William Hodges marrying a Mary Gibson? My greatgrandfather, William Pointer Hodges, was their son. William Pointer was married in Hart county, and born in Larue (May have the counties backwards). This is my brick wall, as I have nothing from William back. William and family all moved to Kansas in the early 1900's. Thanks in advance.
